Went to the doctor today, have a case of the flu. Doctor prescribed me an over the counter medicine (which my insurance does not cover) and a generic for Tamiflu. 10 generic tablets costs $150? Really? Of which my insurance paid $25. Thanks a lot! How generous! Good thing I am paying $500+ a month for this policy. I'd hate to be without it.

It's my Obamacare policy. Blue Cross Blue Shield of GA Wife's employer kicked spouses off of policies 3 years ago. And generously gave her $500 to help find me new coverage. Like that is supposed to help? I did a little searching around to see why the heck a generic would cost so much. What I found out kind of surprised me. It looks like more of an issue with greedy pharmacies, rather than greedy insurance company that won't cover anything. www.kevinmd.com/blog/2013/04/generic-drugs-expensive.htmlI also found of that the Tamiflu just shortens your illness by 12-24 hours if taken within the first 2 days. Since my fever broke last night, I am fairly confident it's not really going to help me much, if any. Pretty much just wasted $125 on it as far as I am concerned.

Did you join Costco yet? Glad your fever broke.

Unfortunately, there is no Costco real close to me. But there are a few in the metro Atlanta area that would be worth driving to for $100 in savings.

A good bit better. Good enough to get out and hit some junkyards today. Last night I realized that my wife had gotten the same generic prescription for $5 just 2 days earlier. I looked at my prescription card...and as far as I can tell, I am only supposed to get charged $5 for generics. The last time I called Blue Cross Blue Shield resulted in a 35 minute wait time. I need to call them and find out why they only paid $25 on my prescription. I don't know if this is true, but I heard on the radio that if you drop an "F bomb" on the automated customer service lines, that will result in your call being given priority.
