Fixed the A/C on my daughters Ranger today. New Compressor, accumulator, orfice tube and evaporator. Chillin' like Bob Dylan when I was done. The big test is whether it will be blowing cold tomorrow. I hope I found all the leaks...but you never know. I had charged it up earlier in the week...and the charge leaked out overnight. I had used R-134 with UV dye, so I got out the trusty black light and found evidence of leakage on both the compressor seam and evaporator. But neither leak seemed to be huge....so I have my fingers crossed.

Tell Rachel she needs to come back up for Carlisle. Seeing how she was so interested last time. Bob, she really likes going to Carlisle with me. She always especially looks forward to seeing your wife. Unfortunately, she and her boyfriend made plans .....to go to Europe for 5 weeks this summer. They will be on that trip when Carlisle is going on.

On a positive note...the daughters A/C is still blowing cold today, so it looks like I got it right the first time. With A/C work, particularly when a leak is involved, it does not always work out that way.

So much for the A/C work........the truck got totaled today. Daughter is fine.....a little sore from the air bag deploying...but no significant injury.

Weird accident. She had just left my house a few minutes before, on her way home. Was behind a Mazda truck, on two lane road, that was attempting to turn left into a driveway. But they somehow managed to be stalled across both lanes. (thinking it might have a been a inexperienced driver that stalled a stick shift) My daughter came up behind them and stopped. Driver coming in opposite direction, driving a Honda Accord, more or less T boned the stalled vehicle, without slowing down. (no skid marks, no attempt to avoid collision) The T boned Mazda was spun and smashed into my daughters truck. The spin was violent enough that one of the Mazda wheels snapped off at the wheel studs. Ended up under my daughters truck, and apparently managed to slightly puncture that gas tank.
She was pretty scared...and called me. My wife and I were up to the scene in a matter of minutes.

Tom you look like you are looking at that truck to see what you can strip and post on Ebay ....... Nah...the insurance company can have it. I guess while she is gallivanting around Europe in July, I will try and find her another vehicle. Probably a Camry, Corolla, or Rav4

Story gets worse..... Looks like the idiot who caused the accident was uninsured. Daughter is on her Mom's policy. Not sure if she had uninsured motorist overage. (Not mandatory in GA) Really don't "get" how the cops didn't figure out at the scene he was uninsured.

If someone is hurt or killed that should be manslaughter. Sorry SOB's.

Given the area of the wreck and the ethnicity of the at fault driver, it would not shock me if he is in the country illegally.
